As spouses we know what it is like to support the troops since we do that every day by caring for our loved ones in ways that make their service possible and by picking up the pieces for our families when our spouses are away on duty.
However, our duty to our spouses and to our country requires us to SPEAK OUT about the Iraq War and its dire consequences for military families. We may not deploy to the war, but we are the homefront. The war and its effects on the military are visible in our living rooms, our work, and our relationships with others.
While it is often difficult to speak out as a military spouse, we are here to support one another in these efforts. This chapter is a resource and organizing tool that helps military spouses find their voice in calling for an end to the Iraq War and obtaining the medical, psychological, financial, and emotional care that military families and veterans need. We encourage you to join with us to end the Iraq War and to build connections among spouses opposed to this war.
